One-Party Illinois bad for state and residents

In Illinois, Democrats are debating whether to strip local governments of zoning authority.

It’s called The BUILD Act.

It will allow Springfield to plop down multi-family housing statewide while reducing local restrictions (as well as solar farms and, presumably, data centers)

It’s supposed to address a housing shortage.

But, no doubt, that shortage is exacerbated by “Sanctuary State” illegal immigrant magnetism.

With the Democrat’s supermajority in the legislature and JB Pritzker in the governor’s mansion, they don’t have to concern themselves with those annoying Republicans in the legislature; One-Party Illinois is immune to ideas that don’t fit their agenda.

Most, if not all, Republicans oppose The BUILD Act.

They see it for what it is – a power grab by Democrats who live in that fantasy world where they (the government) have the answers for all our problems.

All we need do is shut our mouths and go along.

This is an approach Illinoisans are increasingly familiar with.

State Sen Craig Wilcox, Republican from 32nd District, said of the BUILD Act that it’s a political calculation by the Democrats “that the state will always be Blue (Democrat controlled).”

He said he doesn’t doubt they’ll push it hard in the lame duck session.

One-Party Illinois and putting illegal immigrants first

A few years ago, Illinois stripped McHenry County of the authority to house illegal immigrants for the feds while receiving $95 per day to house those detainees.

Now, Illinois has passed a law that bans arrests of immigrants in and around courthouses.

In other words, One-Party Illinois has no problem with a convicted child rapist let loose on our streets by increasing ‘liberal’ Illinois courts.

In a Dec. 8, 2025, FOX News article, ICE reported that “Illinois has released 1,768 criminal aliens with active detainers.

Those illegals were charged with crimes that include “homicides, assaults, burglaries, weapons offenses and sexual-predatory crimes.”

Anyone paying attention, beyond what the Left’s lapdog media tells us – the ABCs, NBCs, CNNs, NY Times, etc. – knows that we’ve seen numerous stories of Americans, usually women, who are raped and/or murdered by illegals who were in custody and could have been detained and deported before an American paid the price.

One-Party Illinois and parental rights

One-Party Illinois government has denied parents the right to know if their children are receiving birth control.

Never mind that those same parents could be arrested if they didn’t meet their parental responsibilities.

It’s an interesting place to be to have responsibilities without rights.

The One-Party state government has passed a law presumably to prevent banning books.

The law says that books can’t be removed from libraries “based solely on partisan or doctrinal beliefs.”

It claims to protect intellectual freedom.

But the law came about because parents, the ones with responsibilities and limited rights again, were concerned about the highly sexualized reading material in libraries, including school libraries.

That extreme material appeared in conjunction with the massive and incessant LBTQ+ push we’ve seen in the country in recent years.

Schools and public libraries used to concern themselves with something they called “age-appropriate reading material” for children.

Those pushing the highly sexualized material base their definition of ‘appropriateness’ on the goal of indoctrinating children to their social agenda.

In other words, in normal times, we wouldn’t call it “book banning” at all. We’d call it common sense.

One-Party Illinois and taxes and spending

In the meantime, spending and taxes are where One-Party Illinois is in its zone.

The fiscal 2026 $55.2-billion One-Party Illinois Budget is a record.

It’s also $15-billion higher than the 2019 budget when JB Pritzker became governor and cemented One-Party Illinois total control.

One-Party Illinois has graced Illinoisans with the sixth-highest tax burden in the country.

But, not to worry, One-Party Illinois is chasing away corporations that would have helped residents pay their growing tax burden.

According to an Aug. 12, 2025, article in Illinois Policy, an online publication that advocates for Illinois taxpayers, the state was then the third highest for corporate departures.

Departing corporations include

• Tyson Foods,
• SC Johnson,
• Morton Salt,
• Caterpillar,
• True Value
• and more.

And when these corporations leave, not only do they hand the rest of us a larger share of the burgeoning tax burden, they also take jobs with them.

Fortunately, One-Party Illinois has taken steps to meet its compulsion for big spending.

They are hitting Illinoisans with a sales tax increase.

But, not to worry, it’s only for six counties.

Then again, you may want to worry because one of those counties is McHenry County.

On the other hand, we don’t have to worry about them choosing to increase the fuel tax, which went up July 1 of this year.

The law that brought us that increase at the pumps is set to increase every July 1.

Keep your fingers crossed that the Consumer Price Index is low next year because the increase is based on a percentage of the CPI.

Thanks to One-Party Illinois government, our taxes go for health insurance for people who shouldn’t even be in the country.

We also pay for abortions, including those for women coming from other states. And the state now has oversight of residential lease agreements that, among other things, limits the ability to run background checks on potential tenants.

Well, those criminal aliens they’re releasing have to live somewhere, don’t they?
