STRUCTURE FIRE- LAKE IN TH HILLS for Algonquin-Lake of the Hills

At approximately 8:20 p.m. on July 5, 2026, the Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District was dispatched to a fire alarm at Cunat Apartments, located at 1362 Cunat Court in Lake in the Hills.

Firefighters arrived on scene at approximately 8:23 p.m. and encountered smoke coming from a third-floor apartment.

Fire crews, with assistance from the Lake in the Hills Police Department, immediately began evacuating the unaffected apartments within the building.

The fire was declared under control at approximately 8:35 p.m. after it was extinguished by the building’s automatic sprinkler system.

There were no civilian or firefighter injuries reported.

Fire crews successfully rescued a dog and a cat from the affected building and safely reunited them with their family.

Multiple apartments were deemed uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined and is under investigation by Algonquin-Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District investigators.

A damage estimate is not yet available.
