From the McHenry Township Fire Protection District:

The McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) was dispatched at 10:21 p.m. on July 3, 2026, to the 5000 block of Pyndale Drive in the City of McHenry for a reported structure fire.

Fire crews arrived approximately four and a half minutes later to find smoke coming from a single-family residence. Crews quickly located and extinguished the fire inside the home within 15 minutes of arrival while simultaneously conducting a search of the residence.

All occupants had evacuated prior to firefighters arriving.

There were no firefighter injuries. One civilian was evaluated at the scene and transported to Northwestern McHenry Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The home sustained significant damage and was deemed uninhabitable.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the MTFPD and the McHenry Police Department.

The MTFPD received assistance at the scene or at our fire stations from the Cary, Crystal Lake, Fox Lake, Nunda, Salvation Army Canteen, Spring Grove, Wauconda, Wonder Lake, and Woodstock fire departments.
