Driver Extricated Following Two-Vehicle Crash
On Thursday, July 2, 2026, at 10:35 a.m., the Cary Fire Protection District was dispatched to the intersection of Crystal Street and West Main Street in Cary for a reported traffic crash with entrapment.
Firefighters arrived to confirm a two-vehicle crash, with one vehicle resting on its side and the adult female driver trapped inside.
Crews quickly stabilized the vehicle before beginning extrication operations.
Within approximately 15 minutes, firefighters freed the driver, who was transported to a local hospital with minor injuries.
The driver of the second vehicle, a small work truck, declined medical attention at the scene.
Crystal Street (Route 14) and West Main Street were closed in all directions for nearly one hour to allow emergency crews to safely operate and remove the damaged vehicles.
The Cary Police Department is investigating the crash. Any additional questions regarding the investigation, including the cause of the crash, fault, seat belt use, or speed, should be directed to their office.
