Records in the Sheriff’s Department indicate Holiday Hills Police Chief William Copp has been arrested for official misconduct.

Prairie Grove Police Department Announces Arrest Following Misuse of Police Databases Investigation
Prairie Grove, Illinois — William Copp, Chief of Police for the Village of Holiday Hills, was arrested on the warrant on June 17 at approximately 9:30 p.m. during a traffic stop conducted by the Prairie Grove Police Department.
He was transported to McHenry County Jail and turned over to jail staff.
The warrant resulted from an investigation initiated in November 2025 into former part-time Prairie Grove Police Officer William Copp for alleged misuse of police databases.
The investigation determined that Copp conducted numerous searches unrelated to any official law enforcement investigation and allegedly performed them for personal purposes.
The databases involved included the Illinois State Police LEADS database and an automated license plate reader system.
Following the investigation, Copp was terminated from his position as a part-time police officer with the Prairie Grove Police Department.
After the case was reviewed with the McHenry County State’s Attorney’s Office, the Prairie Grove Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Copp on charges of official misconduct.
All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
