From the Coroner:
McHenry County Coroner’s Office Investigating Death of 7-Year-Old Male
McHenry County Coroner Dr. Michael Rein announced that the McHenry County Coroner’s Office was notified by Northwestern Huntley Hospital at around 7:00 p.m. on June 17, 2026, regarding the death of a 7-year-old male.
The child was transported from Lake In The Hills to Northwestern Medicine Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.
An autopsy was performed on June 11, 2026.
Preliminary findings show drowning as the cause of death.
Toxicology testing is currently pending.
The McHenry County Coroner’s Office continues to work collaboratively with Lake In The Hills Police Department and Northwestern Huntley Hospital during this investigation.
