Vehicle Into Home Displaces Four Residents in Unincorporated Cary
On Monday, June 1, 2026, at 5:34 p.m., the Cary Fire Protection District responded to the 2500 block of Oakdale Terrace in unincorporated Cary following reports of a vehicle that had crashed into a residence.
Firefighter/paramedics arrived to find a passenger vehicle that had crashed into the front of an occupied home, causing minor structural intrusion into the residence.
Crews quickly evaluated the scene and confirmed that all occupants of the home had safely exited the structure.
Three occupants were inside the residence at the time of the crash and were uninjured.
Paramedics assessed the two occupants of the vehicle for minor injuries, both of whom declined transportation to a hospital or further medical attention.
While firefighter/paramedics checked for injuries, additional crews evaluated the extent of the structural damage and worked to secure the affected area.
Due to concerns regarding the integrity of the structure, the McHenry County Department of Planning and Development was notified to assist with evaluating the residence.
A board-up company was also requested to secure the damaged portion of the home.
Following the assessment, the residence was deemed unsafe for occupancy pending further evaluation and repairs.
The American Red Cross was contacted to assist the four displaced residents with temporary lodging and other immediate needs.
The Cary Fire Protection District remained on scene while crews secured utilities and ensured the residence was safely secured before clearing the scene.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
