Suspect Arrested for Drug-Induced Homicide
LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — Working with the Lake in the Hills Police Department, the Illinois State Police
North Central Narcotics Task Force arrested a suspect today (Thursday, May 28, 2026) at his home without
incident in connection with a drug-induced homicide that occurred last year.
On July 25, 2025, at 5:03 pm, Lake in the Hills police responded to the 1300 block of Cunat Court for a report
of a 41-year-old deceased woman.
A task force investigation over several months showed that the suspect knowingly and with intent provided cocaine to the victim prior to her death.
Arrested Person: Karl M. Petermann VI (M/W), 43 years of age, Cunat Court, Apt. 3B, Lake in the Hills, Illinois
Petermann, who currently is being processed at the Lake in the Hills Police Department, will be transferred to
the McHenry County Jail and charged with the following:
- 720 ILCS 5/9-3.3(a) One count of Drug Induced Homicide (Class X Felony)
- 720 ILCS 570/401(d)(i) One count of Manufacture/Deliver of a Controlled Substance – Schedule I, II
Narcotic – Any Other Amount (Class 2 Felony) - 720 ILCS 570/402(c) Possession of a Controlled Substance – Other Drug – Any Amount (Class 4 Felony)
