McHenry Structure Fire
On May 11, 2026, at approximately 4:39 p.m., the McHenry Township Fire Protection District (MTFPD) responded to a reported structure fire in the 4900 block of Joyce Court in McHenry.
Crews arrived within 5 minutes and found a single-family dwelling with fire showing on the side of the structure and smoke coming from the roofline. Upon arrival, McHenry Police Officers were escorting one occupant away from the home.
Crews immediately began an aggressive fire attack and searched the residence for any potential victims.
Firefighters simultaneously extinguished the side of the burning house while making entry into the attic space to extinguish the fire fully.
No injuries were reported to civilians or firefighters.
Firefighters contained the bulk of the damage to an exterior wall and a portion of the attic space.
The home was deemed uninhabitable due to smoke and water damage.
The MTFPD received assistance either on scene or at our fire stations from the Wauconda, Nunda, Round Lake, Wonder Lake, Crystal Lake, Cary, Spring Grove, Woodstock, and Fox Lake Fire Departments, along with the Salvation Army Canteen.
The fire is currently under investigation by the MTFPD.
