Traffic Crash Investigation

On Saturday, May 2, 2026, at approximately 8:45 p.m., the Crystal Lake Police Department responded to a report of a single vehicle crash with injuries on U.S. Route 14 at Lake Shore Drive.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a 2017 Harley Davidson Motorcycle was traveling eastbound on U.S. Route 14 near Lake Shore Drive, when it left the roadway and the driver was ejected.

The driver of the Harley Davidson, 38-year-old male from Warrenville sustained life-threatening injuries and was transported to a local hospital where he was pronounced deceased.

A portion of US Route 14 was shut down for approximately two and a half hours while emergency crews worked on the scene.

This event remains under investigation by the Crystal Lake Police Department.

FROM THE CORONER:

McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Michael Rein, announced that his office was contacted on May 2, 2026, by Northwestern Hospital McHenry to investigate the death of Andrew Anderson, age 38, of Warrenville, IL.

Mr. Anderson was involved in a motorcycle accident where there appeared no other vehicles involvement at that time.

The accident happened around the intersection of Rt. 14 and Lake Shore Dr. in Crystal Lake.

An autopsy is to be performed on Tuesday May 5, 2026.

The Coroner’s Office is continuing to work collaboratively with the Crystal Lake Police Department and Crystal Lake Fire Department during this investigation.
