UPDATE 2:

Costco cleared to resume business after bomb threat and evacuation

LAKE IN THE HILLS, IL — At approximately 3:30 pm today, the Lake in the Hills Police Department .
responded to a call about a person claiming to be bringing a pipe bomb to Costco, 250 N. Randall Road.

The building was evacuated and officers secured the area.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded with its bomb squad and explosives detection canine unit.

After a thorough search of the property, it was determined there was no threat. Costco has been cleared to resume business. No injuries have been reported.

The investigation continues as police seek to identify the caller behind the threat. A bomb threat is a felony that could be punishable with prison time.
