From the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District:

Residential Structure Fire on Baker Terrace

On March 1, 2026, at 3:06 p.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District was dispatched to the 12100 block of Baker Terrace in unincorporated Woodstock for a reported house fire.

While crews were responding, sheriff’s deputies on scene advised that fire was visible from the residence.

Firefighters arrived within minutes and confirmed heavy fire and smoke showing from a one-story home, with fire conditions continuing to intensify upon arrival.

Due to heavy fire conditions and the rural location of the property, the incident was upgraded to a working fire response, and additional resources were requested through the Mutual Aid Box Alarm System to assist with water supply operations and manpower.

Crews deployed multiple hose lines and operated in a defensive manner as conditions deteriorated.

Firefighters worked for approximately 90 minutes to bring the incident under control. T

he fire ultimately consumed the structure and much of its contents.

Overhaul operations continued for an extended period to address remaining hot spots and ensure complete extinguishment.

One adult female occupant was evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation and declined transport to the hospital.

Three occupants resided in the home and are receiving assistance as a result of the fire.

No firefighter injuries were reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District with assistance from the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal.

No further information is available at this time.

The Woodstock Fire/Rescue District appreciates the assistance of the responding agencies, those who provided station coverage during the incident, and our dispatchers who coordinated the response.
