Last December I shared the advice of a friend from Venezuela on an inexpensive way to induce people form his country to return home.
Now Politico has run an article advancing his solution, but missing the ancillary benefit of inducing Venezuelans in the United States to return home.
The Venezuelan dictator’s days are numbered
The article points out that the $50 million reward on Nicolás Maduro’s head is twice that of the reward for bringing down Osama Bin Laden.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is quoted:
Secretary of State Marco Rubio acknowledged the direct connection between Maduro’s regime and terrorist organizations such as the Cartel de los Soles and Tren de Aragua. Rubio also emphasized that this designation provides “legal authority to target them in ways you can’t if they’re just a bunch of criminals. It’s no longer a law enforcement issue. It has become a national security issue. It allows us to now target what they’re operating and to use other elements of American power, intelligence agencies, the Department of Defense, whatever.”
So, maybe my friend’s suggestion has legs.
