Two-Vehicle Head-On Crash Closes Route 31 Overnight
On Sunday, June 15, 2025, at 12:44 a.m., the Nunda Rural Fire Protection District responded to the area of Route 31 and Gracy Road for a reported head-on traffic collision.

Firefighters arrived within minutes and located a two-vehicle crash with heavy front-end damage just south of the intersection on Route 31.

Both vehicles were occupied by a single driver.

Upon arrival, both individuals were out of their vehicles and walking.
The adult male driver of a small SUV declined medical treatment on scene.
The driver of the sedan was evaluated but refused any additional medical attention.

Given the extent of damage, it was a fortunate outcome that no serious injuries occurred.
Both directions of Route 31 were closed for over an hour while emergency personnel worked to clear the scene and ensure the roadway was safe to reopen.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances of the crash. Any questions regarding the cause of the crash, contributing factors, seat belt use, or vehicle speeds should be directed to their office.
