That’s what our waitress at Palermo’s told us as we lunched after a memorial service at St. Mary’s Cemetery.
She showed us the corner table where Michael Madigan ate each week.
I asked how he tipped.
“He’s a twenty-five percenter,” she replied.
Madigan’s sentence had not been delivered while we were at the restaurant.
On the way back to Crystal Lake we heard Madigan had been sentenced to 7 1/2 years and a fine of $2 million.
The U.S. Attorney had asked for twelve and a half years, plus a $2.5 million fine.
Madigan’s attorney asked for five years’ probation with the first year in home confinement, where he could care for his ailing wife, Shirley.

Madigan, at 83 years of age, is a bit old than I am.
A date to report to prison has not been set.
