The newly constituted Crystal Lake Park Board voted 4-3 to excise its Diversity Equity Inclusion section from its Policy Manual, the contents of which can be seen in the post referenced below:
Voting in favor were newly-elected Commissioners Frederick Tiesenga, Keith Nisenson, Richard Hickey and veteran Jason Heisler.

The room was packed, the majority apparently responding to a call to action from the Democratic Party.

The meeting room was filled to capacity and there was at least one overflow room for those unable to wedge themselves into it.

A Friend of McHenry County Blog reported
- New President only allowed 3 minutes for each person with a limit of 30 minutes total. One member raised the question why doesn’t he allow everyone a chance to speak.
- Only 9 got to speak
- For retaining DEI – 2, Against – 1. Public overwhelmingly supported DEI
- Health Bridge – 2 for, Urge Caution – 1
- Support for Park District Programs – 2
- Complaints about how the new board is running the meetings – 1
- Unrelated issue – 1
