Do you wish you had a faster, cheaper way to travel about McHenry?
For as little as $1.25 or free there are multiple bus routes, not just Dial-a-Ride, but buses that come and go hourly and start and stop at many locations, even around the six surrounding counties. We now also have McRide, an Uber or UZURV that costs $4, and is subsidized up to 20 dollars. The rider need only pay any overage and driver tip in addition to the $4.00.
You’re undoubtedly asking how can I make it happen?
It’s very simple.
There is in person service and on line service to help you navigate a short application.
You first have to sign up for the RTA reduced or no fare application at Fair transit Access RTA Chicago.org.
You can apply in person at Sr. Services Associates of Crystal Lake, Nunda Township office, and Sr. Citizens Associates of McHenry.
ou do not just have to be s senior, or disabled, it applies to anyone eligible per their income requirements.
After you sign up you will receive your account and card within 7-10 days.
Upon receipt of the card you may sign up for the UberMcRide through mcrideconnect@mchenry county.gov., or go in person to apply at the agencies listed above.
An example of travel includes the 550 Pace bus at the Crystal Lake train depot.
This bus rides through Crystal Lake with stops that include one at Randall and Ackman, in Crystal Lake.
It cruises down Randall Road and back with stops at shopping centers, stores and restaurants along the way in Lake in the It Hills, Algonquin to I-90 and back hourly.
It stops in an industrial complex bordering I-90 for employees.
From I-90 you can catch another bus to Rosemont and O’Hare for the same discount fare. The buses are clean, new, air conditioned, heated, and can carry bikes on their front bumper.
Take the traffic off the road today and apply for a card. Its cheaper than driving and very user friendly.
