The Chicago Tribune writes today of McHenry County Congressman Darin LaHood’s importance in the selection of the next U.S. Attorney for Northern Illinois.

While from Peoria, which has another U.S. Attorney, LaHood’s district was gerrymandered to the Wisconsin state line and into northwestern McHenry County.

Typically, U.S. Senators make recommendations for United States Attorneys, but when they are of the opposition party of the President, the senior Congressman takes over.
