Former McHenry County Board member Lou Ness, beaten by Republican Paul Thomas last fall, had thrown her hat in the ring for Woodstock City Council.

She apparently didn’t decide to run until after filing by petition was over, so she had to take the write-in approach.

When she told me of her candidacy, she noted she did quite well in the Woodstock part of the County Board district.

The candidates for City Council follow:

City of Woodstock, For Council Member Vote for 3

  • Tom Nierman
  • Bob Seegers, Jr.
  • Joseph “John” Puzzo
  • Theodore “Theo” Dice
  • Gregory A. Hanson
  • Joshua S. Fourdyce
  • Lou Ness (Write-in)

Explaining her reason for running, Ness emailed,

“I enjoyed serving on the County Board, I loved the work I was able to complete during the two years of my term, helping constituents and working on issues that I feel strongly about,

“Workforce Housing being a priority.

“My commitment to Housing is as strong as it was 35 years ago.

“After I lost the election, a small group of Woodstock Residents came to me asking if I would run for Mayor.

“I think Mayor Turner is doing a good job and I had no interest in working as hard as you would if you were Mayor.

“However It occurred to me that I would enjoy ending my public life closer to home, on the Woodstock City Council.

“I know how to govern, I understand constraint and I would love to be a part of the amazing future of my community.”

“I believe I am a seasoned public official, a dedicated public servant and have a vision for Woodstock that excites me.

“I believe we can create a future that bridges tradition and innovation if we work together.”
