Campton Hills is the latest local government where a board majority took offense at a member’s supposedly revealing something that occurred in a secret session.

The Daily Herald reports,

There is no law that prohibits revealing what goes on in a secret governmental meeting.

Locally, that became apparent when the Crystal Lake Park board dropped a count in a lawsuit against Park Board member Leona Nelson.

They kept the count accusing the upper-80 year old for sexual harassment, however.

Campton Hills Trustee, the subject of the censure had the following reaction:

“Janet] Burson denies the allegations, saying she never disclosed closed meeting information to anyone — and besides that, it isn’t against the law.”

A Board has only the social pressure it can bring to bear on other members concerning keeping things secret in an Executive Session.
