In elections with one or two people on the ballot, ballot order makes no difference.

If there are six or more candidates however, where one is on the ballot makes a big difference.

First place is worth an extra ten percent on the vote.

Second and last place bring an extra five percent.

Below are how the candidates will appear on the ballot:

Supervisor:

  • Richard Tado
  • Randolph “Randy” Funk

Highway Commissioner

  • Tim Carone
  • Danijela Sandberg

Assessor:

  • Richard S. Alexander

Clerk:

  • Millie Medendorp
  • Richard J. Yelle, Jr.

Trustee:

  • Teresa Sharpe Decker
  • Theresa Fronczak
  • Eduardo Aviles
  • Robert Reining
  • Debbie Rinn Alcock
  • Robert Becker
  • Kevin Byrnes
  • Tony Colatorti
  • Maureen Huff

There are basically two slates.

One consists of current Road Commissioner Danijela Sandberg, current Trustee running for Clerk, Trustees Teresa Sharpe Decker and Theresa Fronczak running for re-election. Newcomers Richard Tado is running for Supervisor and former Trustee Robert Becker, appointed to replace Rachel Lawrence, is again running for Trustee. Rounding out the slate is Eduardo Aviles, Vice Chairman of the Algonquin Township Republican Party, running for Trustee.

Running with incumbent Supervisor Randy Funk is Tim Carone for Road Commissioner and Richard J. Yelle, Jr., for Clerk. Trustee candidates include current Clerk Maureen Huff, Tony Colatorti, who ran in the GOP primary for Sheriff and unsuccessfully sought the township party nomination for a County Board nomination. Kevin Byrnes, who was perhaps Colatorti’s strongest supporter for Sheriff and whose wife unsuccessfully sought the nomination for Coroner four years ago.

Of possible interest is that Byrnes, a Republican Precinct Committeeperson, did not display any political signs at his high traffic home on Crystal Lake Avenue in the fall 2022 or 2024 November elections. There were signs in the 2022 primary season.

I don’t Trustee who the fourth candidate running with Funk is.
