Reading the McHenry County Board’s Public Health and Community Services Committee minutes from last month, one paragraph popped out:
“The member previewed the budget challenges ahead, highlighting that the starting point for growth was limited.
“Even with the allowable 2.9% levy increase and new growth, the County was still projected to be approximately one million dollars short.
“If the budget remained flat, the shortfall would be $3.7 million, and a 3% reduction would increase the gap to $5.7 million.
“He emphasized that reducing expenditures would require not just cuts but changes in levy rates and service delivery models, noting that deferral of cuts was not a sustainable option given shrinking available resources in future years.”
Unfortunately, the minutes do not identify what committee member says what.
Perhaps if upon being recognized, the next speaker was named, the AI being used (Otter.ai) would include the person’s identity.
