From the campaign of Sheriff Robb Tadelman:

Sheriff Robb Tadelman will run for re-election in 2026

Lake in the Hills: McHenry County Sheriff Robb Tadelman is announcing his intention to run for re-election in 2026.

Tadelman was elected to the office in November of 2022 and sworn in at a December ceremony. Tadelman has served over two decades in the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office rising through the ranks from patrolman to Undersheriff and then Sheriff.

Statement from Sheriff Robb Tadelman

“It has been the honor of my life to serve the people of McHenry County over the past two decades.

“I’ve held nearly every position within our agency and was encouraged to run for Sheriff in 2022 by my former boss, Sheriff Bill Prim, and by many supporters who generously gave their time and resources to help make that campaign a success.

:I want to continue serving the people of McHenry County as their Sheriff, and today I’m officially announcing my intention to seek the Republican nomination for that office in 2026.

“While we’ve accomplished a great deal, there’s still important work ahead—and I will always pursue constant improvement.

“My job is on the front lines of public safety, and I remain fully committed to keeping our county safe.

“Since taking office in December 2022, I have worked to be a responsible steward of taxpayer dollars.

“We partnered with the Lake County Sheriff’s Office to help alleviate overcrowding by housing 150 of their inmates.

“This collaboration has brought in $5.4 million in revenue, offsetting nearly 10% of our operating budget.

“We’ve also expanded our Police Social Work Program, which focuses on reducing recidivism among those involved in the criminal justice system.

“This program has achieved an average 70% reduction in repeat offenses.

“Additionally, our growing partnerships with mental health providers have allowed us to proactively intervene before a crisis becomes a tragedy.

“Preventing crime saves lives, protects property, and strengthens our community.

“I currently serve on both the Executive Board and Legislative Committee of the Illinois Sheriffs’ Association and am one of a small number of Sheriffs who serve on the Incident Response Team—responding to critical events such as officer-involved shootings, in-custody deaths, and line-of-duty deaths.

“I am also working with the National Sheriffs’ Institute to help launch a nationwide Sheriff’s Wellness Program.

“Supporting the health and well-being of the men and women who serve with me at the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office will always be a top priority.

“We continue to strengthen cooperation among federal, state, and local law enforcement partners.

“One key initiative currently in development is a partnership with the Department of Children and Family Services to embed a deputy within their office.

“This collaboration will help enhance child protection investigations and ensure vulnerable children receive the support and safety they deserve.

“As my campaign moves forward, I look forward to continuing to earn the trust, support, and votes of McHenry County residents in this upcoming election.”
