Long after a crowded hearing by the McHenry County Zoning Board of Appeals, a call was made to the group’s attorney for the objectors, Thomas Burney, Friday announcing the project was dead.

The reason, according to the Planning and Development Department Director Adam Wallen, was that a residence was too near the proposed slaughterhouse.

“Your point is well taken,” he said.

How it took so long to figure that out is beyond me.

The next step, Wallen said was to confer with the State’s Attorney.
