From the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District:
On Tuesday, June 24, 2025, at 5:52 a.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the area of Kishwaukee Valley Road and South Hughes Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a reported crash with entrapment.
Crews arrived within minutes and located a two-vehicle crash with heavy damage involving a commercial truck and a pickup truck.
The adult male driver of the pickup truck was still inside his vehicle and unresponsive.
Despite the immediate efforts of paramedics, the patient had succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
The driver of the commercial truck was evaluated by paramedics and declined medical treatment.
The impact caused a rupture to one of the truck’s saddle tanks, resulting in a diesel fuel spill onto the pavement.
A small hazardous materials response was initiated.
Firefighters quickly worked to contain the spill using absorbent materials to prevent the fuel from reaching the adjacent ditch.
A medical helicopter was initially requested but was canceled early into the incident.
Kishwaukee Valley Road remained closed in both directions for several hours while crews operated on scene and law enforcement conducted their investigation.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. All questions regarding the cause of the crash, contributing factors, or other related matters should be directed to their office.

Fatal Crash on Kishwaukee Valley Road
A Belvidere man was pronounced dead after a crash on Kishwaukee Valley Road near Woodstock earlier this morning.
At approximately 5:52 a.m., McHenry County Sheriff’s Office and Woodstock Fire & Rescue District were dispatched to the 16500 block of Kishwaukee Valley Road, west of Hughes Road, in unincorporated Woodstock for a two-vehicle crash.
A 2011 Dodge Ram was traveling eastbound on Kishwaukee Valley Road when it crossed over the centerline for unknown reasons.
The Ram was then struck by a westbound 2023 Mack truck, coming to rest in the ditch.
The driver and sole occupant of the Ram, a 50-year-old Belvidere man was pronounced dead on scene.
The driver and sole occupant of the semi was not injured.
Both drivers were wearing seat belts. The investigation is ongoing by the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Major Traffic Crash Investigation Unit and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office.
