From the Harvard Fire Protection District:
Two-Vehicle Crash Involving Semi Shuts Down Route 14
On Monday, June 23, 2025, at 10:00 a.m., the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to a reported motor vehicle crash with entrapment near the intersection of Route 14 and Bunker Hill Road in unincorporated Woodstock.

While en route, responding crews were advised by law enforcement that one of the drivers was conscious but trapped inside his vehicle.

Upon arrival, firefighters and paramedics found a two-vehicle crash involving a semi and a passenger vehicle with heavy damage, located approximately one-half mile north of the intersection on Route 14.
One vehicle had overturned, coming to rest on its roof, with an adult male driver trapped inside.
Due to the severity of the injuries, a medical helicopter was requested to the scene.

Firefighters worked to safely extricate the patient, completing the operation in under 30 minutes despite temperatures climbing into the 90s.

The patient, who sustained serious injuries, was then transferred to the awaiting helicopter and airlifted to Javon Bea Hospital—Riverside in Rockford for further treatment.
The driver of the semi, also an adult male, was evaluated at the scene and transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The semi was not hauling a trailer at the time of the crash, and no additional hazards were noted.
Both drivers were the sole occupants of their respective vehicles.
Route 14 remained closed in both directions for over three hours while emergency crews operated at the scene.

The Harvard Fire Protection District would like to thank the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District for their assistance during the incident.
The McHenry County Sheriff’s Office is handling the investigation. All additional questions regarding the cause of the crash, seatbelt use, vehicle speeds, or fault should be directed to their office.
