From the Lake in the Hills Police:

Here is the explanation from the Police Department:

“Interestingly enough, it is exactly as it reads.

“It was a car roof, as in a hard metal roof, that was reported stolen.

“The business is an auto shop that does a variety of auto services and repairs.

“In this case, they had a roof (as an auto part) that was intended to be used  as a part for another vehicle.

“That roof was reported as stolen.”
