Caught Chuck Goudie on WLS-TV this morning warning that those worried about election security were–gasp–volunteering to be election judges and poll watchers.

Featured was a video from a Kane County organization called Three-Headed Eagle in which a young man advised those in attendance who were worried about election integrity to get involved in the process.

There was no mention of violence in the speech, but the “fear” by election officials seemed to be the main message in the story.

Republican Kane County Clerk Jack Cunningham, whose election integrity was unsuccessfully challenged previously, showed how cameras were throughout ths election headquarters and, to make it easier for viewers to see who was doing what, Republican Jdges were wearing vests with a big “R” on the back and, which Democrats has a vest sith a big “D.”

When I ran in the Republican Primary Election in 1966 for County Treasurer, we deployed watchers to about half of the precincts.

We won by 72 votes.

Gene Brewer, who ran second, asked for a recount.

None of the local judges would take the case ,so Lake Count Judge Glenn Seidenfeld was brought in.

When Brewer’s lawyer concluded his presentation without offerig any evidence, I leaned over to my attorney, Stan Narusis, and said, “Stan, he didn’t offer any evidence. Shouldn’t you move to dismiss the case?”

That’s what Narusis did and Judge Seidenfeld did just that.

He later won an Appellate Court seat.

story on ABC, tune in at ten PM.
