Driving down to East Dundee to pick up former State Rep. DeLoris Doederlein last week,I noticed 4 by 4 signd in oppositiion to the District 300 School District referendum.

If you look at the bottom of the sign, it says, “Paid for by Algonquin Township Republlicsnd.
District is “only” seeking $355 million from its taxpayers.
Here’s the notice on the McHenry County Clerk’s website:
COMMUNITY UNIT SCHOOL DISTRICT #300
Proposition To Issue $355,500,000 School Building Bonds
Shall the Board of Education of Community Unit School District Number 300, Kane, McHenry, Cook and DeKalb Counties, Illinois, build and equip additions to and alter, repair and equip school buildings and facilities, including, but not limited to, secured entryways, safety and security improvements and additional classrooms; build and equip a Career and Technical Education Center; acquire land; improve sites; and issue its bonds to the amount of $355,500,000 for the purpose of paying the costs thereof?
As you can see from the language, if authorized, the money can be spent on pretty much anything.
There seems to be not much opposition once one gets to the Kane County line.
There were no signs against the tax hike.
Then, again,I saw no signs in favor either.
