Cheryl Hammerand was kind enough to drive me to State Senator Craig Willcox’ annualfall fundraiser at Michael Rein’s estate perched on the highest hill in Algonquin Township.
There werer plenty of politicians present.
My kind of a gathering.
Headlining the event was 28-year olf country western singer Trey Taylor.

As I told him after his set, I’m not much of a country fan, but enjoyed his selections, one of which will be the lead song on a new album: “I’ve Always Been a Country Boy.” (Hope I remembered that accurately.)
Afterwards I waited my turn to speak to Sheriff Robb Tadelman.

Then, I got an opportunity to ask my question: “What’s your office’s biggest problem.”
There have not been a lot of public complaints, so I didn’t know what I would elicit.
“Freedom of Information requests” was his answer.
He said his department has received 2,256 from January through July.
A minimum of 175,000 documents had been provided, mostly body camera images.
The cost?
About $250,000 so far this year.
