From the campaign of Collin Corbett:
League of Women Voters Forced to Cancel Forum After Pritzker & Bailey Refused to Join
PALATINE, IL — A gubernatorial forum planned for September 10th at Illinois Central College in East Peoria, hosted by the League of Women Voters of Illinois and WEEK-TV, was canceled after JB Pritzker and Darren Bailey refused to agree to the rules and participate in the forum. Independent candidate for Governor Collin Corbett was the only candidate to accept.
“Why are JB Pritzker and Darren Bailey unwilling to stand on the stage and answer for their records? And why are they unwilling to share their positions on the issues impacting Illinois working families?” Collin questioned.
In their notice of cancellation, a representative from the League of Women Voters bemoaned the fact that now “the voters of central Illinois, and around Illinois, lose an opportunity to learn about where candidates stand on key issues that are impacting them.”
Collin added, “The League of Women Voters and WEEK-TV were giving voters an opportunity to hear from their candidates for governor, yet JB Pritzker and Darren Bailey don’t have the courage to stand on stage and answer real questions.
“This has become a trend: both of my opponents are refusing to participate in forums or debates with me. You have to wonder why they are afraid? Why won’t they join me in talking about how we make life more affordable for working families and get our state growing again?”
Collin has agreed to all forums he’s been invited to and will be participating in the upcoming Technology & Manufacturing Association and Illinois Municipal League candidate forums. JB Pritzker has not confirmed his participation in either forum.

In 2002 when I was the Libertarian Party candidate for Governor, Rod Blagojevich and Jim Ryan conspired to kill the League gubernatorial debate in Chicago–scheduled to ne the first one.
To be elegible, a candidate had to have achieved the 5% threshold, which I did in the largest poll taken in 2002.
So, history repeats itself.
