Algonquin Invites the Community to Celebrate America 250
Towne Park event kicks off the holiday weekend with music and entertainment
ALGONQUIN, IL – The Village of Algonquin invites residents and visitors to celebrate America’s 250th birthday with an evening of live music, food, and family-friendly activities on Thursday, July 2, at Towne Park, 100 Jefferson Street.
The celebration will take place from 5:00 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and will feature a special performance by the Tim Gleason Band, along with food vendors, local performances, balloon artists, face painting, and other activities throughout the evening.
The event serves as Algonquin’s community celebration of the nation’s semiquincentennial, commemorating the 250th anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
“America’s 250th birthday is an opportunity to reflect on our nation’s history while bringing our community together to celebrate,” said Village President Debby Sosine. “We look forward to welcoming residents and visitors for an evening of music, entertainment, and community spirit.”
Please note that fireworks will not be held as part of the July 2 celebration. The Village’s annual fireworks display will instead take place during the reimagined Algonquin Fest, scheduled for July 24–26, 2026, with fireworks planned for the evening of Saturday, July 25.
