This year Pollinator Week is celebrated June 22-28
Pollinator Week is an annual celebration to raise awareness for pollinators and spread the word about what we can do to protect them.
Here in McHenry County, a coalition of conservation groups are sponsoring eleven events consisting of talks, walks, stewardship events and a bioblitz where attendees will learn about pollinators and the native plants that support them.

Two talks will focus on the native plants homeowners can plant to help pollinators. Join the Wildflower Preservation & Propagation Committee on Wednesday, June 17 from 7-8:30 pm at McHenry County Conservation District’s Prairieview Education Center in Crystal Lake.
On Tuesday, June 30 from 7-8 pm, join the Land Conservancy of McHenry County for Birds, Bees, and Butterflies: Plant Your Own Native Plant Garden at the Cary Public Library. Registration is required for both these events.
On Friday, June 26 from 1-3 pm at the Woodstock Public Library, the Environmental Defenders of McHenry County and the McHenry County Department of Planning and Development are hosting a talk on Natural Landscaping for Commercial Properties. Sarah Voska, Sales Manager at Bluestem Ecological Services and Jen Czaja, Landscape Architect at Sebert Landscaping will talk about the planning process, plant selection, and interpretive signage for the library’s Prairie Roots garden renovation project.
