I did some searching in the Democrats’ appropriations bill and found $500,000 to help pay for Crystal Lake’s purchase of the failed Healthbridge.

The total purchase price has been reported to be $4.2 million.

One Crystal Lake critic of the proposed purchase predicted it would be named for Mayor Haig Haleblian.

If so, he will have succumbed to what is commonly characterized as the “edifice complex.”

People can see evidence of that on pretty much every public building which is financed with taxpayer dollars.

More dollars are spent for a bronze plaque with the names of the elected officials, sometimes appointed officials and architects.
