On Friday, April 10, 2026, at 1:27 p.m., the Nunda Rural Fire Protection District responded to the intersection of Nish Road and Barreville Road in Prairie Grove for a reported vehicle crash.

Upon arrival, crews located a two-vehicle crash within the intersection, with one vehicle well engulfed in flames.

Both adult drivers had exited their vehicles prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

Firefighters deployed a hose line and worked to extinguish the fire while paramedics simultaneously evaluated both individuals on scene.

The driver of the vehicle that caught fire declined medical attention, while the second driver was evaluated and transported to a local hospital with moderate, non-life-threatening injuries.

Both drivers were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Crews remained on scene for approximately one hour assisting with traffic control while the roadway was closed and the vehicles were removed. We appreciate the Cary Fire Protection District personnel for their assistance with initial fire extinguishment and patient care.
