Serious Injury Crash on Interstate 90

At approximately 4:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 26, 2026, the Huntley Fire Protection District responded to for a reported motor vehicle crash on Interstate 90. 

Upon arrival, firefighters located the crash just west of Route 47 in the westbound lanes, near the end of the entrance ramp.

Crews confirmed the incident involved a semi tractor trailer and a passenger sedan, which sustained heavy damage as a result of the collision.

Firefighters determined that minor extrication was required to remove two occupants from the sedan.

Both individuals sustained serious to critical, life-threatening injuries and were transported to Northwestern Medicine Huntley Hospital for further evaluation and treatment.

Due to the extent of injuries, a medical helicopter was requested.

One of the occupants was later airlifted from the hospital helipad to Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville for advanced trauma related care.

The westbound entrance ramp to Interstate 90 from Route 47 was closed for several hours while emergency crews operated on scene and the crash was investigated.

The crash remains under investigation by the Illinois State Police.
