From the Coroner:
McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Michael Rein, announced that his office was contacted on February 21, 2026, by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office around 8:00 am to investigate the death of Jon Surch, age 57 of Crystal Lake.
The decedent was found in a ditch around the 4300 block of Rt. 176 of Prairie Grove.
An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday February 24, 2026.
The Coroner’s Office is continuing to work collaboratively with McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Prairie Grove PD and Crystal Lake Fire Department.
