From the Coroner:
McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Michael Rein, announced that his office was contacted on February 21, 2026, by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office around 5 PM to investigate the death of Michael Giba, age 50, of Wonder Lake.
The decedent was found in the water in Wonder Lake, near Wonder Lake Park.
An autopsy will be performed on Tuesday February 24, 2026.
The Coroner’s Office is continuing to work collaboratively with McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, Wonder Lake Police Department, Wonder Lake Fire Department.
