From the State’s Attorney:

COURT GRANTS STATE’S ATTORNEY’S OFFICE’S PETITION TO DETAIN MAN ACCUSED OF CRIMINAL SEXUAL ASSAULT

McHenry County State’s Attorney Randi Freese announced today that the Honorable Judge Nader granted the State’s petition to deny pretrial release for Kobe Anthony, 26, of Montgomery, Illinois.

Anthony appeared in Initial Appearance Court on December 22, 2025, charged with one count of Criminal Sexual Assault, a class 1 felony.

Evidence was presented in court this morning that Anthony and the victim, a family member of Anthony, were drinking at a bar in Huntley the summer of 2022.

When the two arrived home, the victim went to sleep.

The victim woke up to being sexually assaulted by Anthony.

The victim reported trying to stop the attack from Anthony, however Anthony covered the victim’s face and shut the door to prevent the victim from leaving.

There has been an outstanding warrant for Anthony’s arrest since March of 2023 for this charge.

Anthony elected to proceed to hearing under the Safety Act rather than post the monetary bail from the warrant.

During the hearing on the State’s Petition to Deny Pre-trial Release, Judge Nader found that there were no conditions or combinations of conditions that the court could impose to keep the community safe based on dangerousness.

State’s Attorney Freese commends the detectives from the Huntley Police Department for the thorough investigation that led to this charge.

Anthony’s next court appearance is scheduled for December 24, 2025, in courtroom 302.

Members of the public are reminded that this complaint contains only charges and is not proof of the defendant’s guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which it is the government’s burden to prove his or her guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
