Itasca Man Charged in Harvard Death Investigation
A 75-year-old Itasca man has been charged with murder in relation to a death investigation in unincorporated Harvard on December 13.
On December 13, at about 4:45 p.m., members of McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Conservation Police Department, and Harvard Fire Protection District responded to a check for wellbeing in the 4500 block of Island Road in unincorporated Harvard.
Upon arrival, police located a deceased adult female with a gunshot wound as well as an injured adult male, with a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
The male, identified as Silvano Perri, was taken to the hospital with serious injuries and later transported to McHenry County Jail.
The investigation remains ongoing by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.
Arrested: Silvano Perri (age 75, Itsaca)
Charges:
- Murder (1st degree): Intend Death/Great Bodily Harm (Class M)
- Murder (1st degree): Strong Probability of Death/Great Bodily Harm (Class M)

December 17, 2025
The charges against this individual are merely allegations against them. All defendants are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

McHenry County Coroner, Dr. Michael Rein, announced that his office was contacted on December 14, 2025, by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office to investigate an apparent shooting at 4509 Island Rd, in unincorporated Harvard.
There was one fatality named Santina Perri, age 65, of Itasca, IL. An autopsy will be performed on December 16, 2025.
The Coroner’s Office is continuing to work collaboratively with McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, McHenry County Conservation District Police and Harvard Police Department during this investigation.

The male was transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
The pair were identified as household members.
This is isolated incident and there is no threat to the public. The investigation is ongoing by McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division.
