From the campaign of GOP gubernatorial hopeful Darren Bailey:
Darren Bailey: Out of touch billionaire predictably opts out of no tax on tips
Louisville, IL — Tipped wage earners hoping Illinois would follow the federal government’s lead in eliminating taxes on tips are in for a major disappointment as the billionaire turned politician, JB Pritzker, has once again demonstrated his disdain for working people, according to Darren Bailey.
Despite strong support from restaurant workers, hotel employees, and even the Culinary Union, Pritzker has decided his opposition to President Trump is more important than fighting for working people.
Bailey is issuing the following statement:
“JB Pritzker in a pathetic attempt to ‘stick it’ to President Trump has decided to opt out of the federal government’s no tax on tips policy. He is in essence sacrificing the financial wellbeing of working people in his delusional war against President Trump.
“My preference is to lower taxes for everyone in Illinois, but we all know our out of touch billionaire Governor has no intention of lowering taxes for working people. He’ll hand out tax breaks to politically connected insiders and Chinese-owned companies, but he won’t lift a finger for the folks who actually keep this state running.
“Opting into the federal no-tax-on-tips policy would be a small but meaningful step toward real tax relief for Illinois families.
“Pritzker refused it.
“To the men and women working in the service industry – help is on the way. A Darren Bailey/Aaron Del Mar administration will opt into the no tax on tips policy and will work towards the tax relief we desperately need in this state.”
