From the Harvard Police:

Incident: Death Investigation – Update

The Harvard Police Department, in conjunction with the McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team (MIAT) and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, continues to investigate the tragic incident that occurred on Monday, October 6, 2025, in the 700 block of North Division Street (Route 14).

Our thoughts remain with the families and all those affected by this tragedy.

Based on the ongoing joint investigation and the findings of the McHenry County Coroner’s Office, the incident is being deemed a homicide-suicide.

The investigation indicates that Brandon Dumovich fatally shot Rachel Dumovich before taking his
own life.

While the investigation remains active as investigators finalize their review of all evidence and reports, this has been determined to be an isolated incident, and there is no indication of any ongoing threat to the community.

The Harvard Police Department extends its appreciation to the McHenry County Major Investigative Assistance Team and the McHenry County Coroner’s Office for their continued partnership and professionalism. Updates will be provided as additional verified information becomes available.

Anyone with information related to this case is encouraged to contact the Harvard Police Department at (815) 943-4431 or submit information anonymously through Crime Stoppers at (815) 943-4343 or crimestoppers@cityofharvard.org
