| U.S. Senate Candidate Don Tracy responded to the positive outlook, saying now it’s time for Illinoisans to realize some gains: “The shutdown isn’t even officially over yet and America’s economy is already roaring back to life. That’s a win for working families everywhere, including the 1.2 million Illinoisans who’ve been held hostage by federal gridlock “But let’s be clear: this crisis was 100% manufactured by Democrats. They dragged us into the longest shutdown in history, delaying SNAP aid, freezing paychecks for military families and essential workers, and stalling disaster relief for Illinois storm victims. My opponents all celebrated as working families throughout Illinois were hurt by their political games. And, tonight, Reps. Raja and Kelly are set to vote against reopening the government because they’d rather prolong the pain for everyday Illinoisans so they can maintain their ‘leverage.’ “Real leaders are voting to reopen the government so we can get back to lowering costs for working families. I am running for office to make life affordable and put your family ahead of politics.” |
