Must admit that I had not heard of “The Bridge,” a free store that provides clothing and other things like toys to families.

People are allowed to come four times a year.

Sponsored by Kids in Need, its website reports that 4,712 children were served in 2024.

However, Kids in Need I have heard of because our Crystal Lake Kiwanis Club has donated to it.

Here is a snippet of what happens from the organization’s September newsletter:

In mid-August, we received a call about an emergency placement. Two children who had just entered foster care with nothing but the clothes they were wearing needed our help.

By the very next morning, because of your support, we were able to send clothing, blankets, and toys to help make their transition a little softer and a little less scary. These small things aren’t small at all. They are a first sign of safety, care, and hope in the middle of a very hard moment.Stories like this happen every week, and we’re only able to respond because of our incredible community, and we continue to support the children who need us the most.  ALL children deserve to feel loved, wanted, and supported.

Below is the CBS story:

The Bridge is located near the corner of Routes 176 and 31.

One can register for an appointment (which are required) to shop here.
