From the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District:

Firefighters Rescue Occupants and Stop Small Bedroom Fire

On Saturday, November 8, at 7:42 a.m., the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District responded to the 100 block of E. Todd Avenue in Woodstock for a reported house fire with occupants unable to escape.

Firefighters arrived within three minutes and observed smoke showing from a single-story residence.

The incident was upgraded to a working fire upon arrival, prompting the response of additional neighboring agencies.

Firefighters quickly entered the home and located two occupants who were unable to exit on their own due to limited mobility.

Both were safely removed as crews worked to extinguish the fire, which was contained to a bedroom within minutes.

Both residents were evaluated by paramedics on scene but declined further treatment or transport.

Damage was limited to one room, and the house remains habitable while repairs are being made.

The exact cause of the fire remains under investigation by the Woodstock Fire/Rescue District.

The final units cleared the scene shortly before 8:30 a.m.

The District reminds residents to use caution when utilizing extension cords and portable power strips.

Avoid overloading circuits and ensure cords are in good condition without frays or damage. Extension cords should be used temporarily and never as permanent wiring.
