From the Huntley Fire Protection District:
Vehicle Fire Beneath Hennig Road Overpass
On Saturday, October 18, 2025, at 3:21 p.m., the Huntley Fire Protection District was dispatched to eastbound Interstate 90 in the area of mile marker 44.5 for a reported vehicle fire.

While responding, firefighters observed a heavy black smoke column visible from a distance.
Several additional callers had reported flames coming from the vehicle.
Upon arrival, crews located a passenger van fully engulfed in flames on the shoulder directly beneath the Hennig Road overpass.
For safety, firefighters closed the outside lane of the interstate during fire suppression operations.
The fire was quickly brought under control, and crews remained on scene briefly to perform overhaul and clean up before clearing to allow normal traffic flow to resume.
The van, which was towing a trailer loaded with DJ equipment, had completely burned.
The attached trailer sustained only minor damage in the fire.
The two adult male occupants had exited the vehicle prior to arrival and were uninjured.
The Huntley Fire Protection District appreciates the assistance of the Illinois State Police and the Illinois Tollway Authority for their help with traffic control and scene safety during the incident.
