Firefighters and Deputies Respond to Vehicle Fire Incident

On October 13, 2025, at 2:30 p.m., the Harvard Fire Protection District responded to the 6500 block of Oak Grove Road for a reported vehicle fire.

Chemung is west of Harvard.

While en route, firefighters were informed that a male subject was attempting to light a vehicle on fire.

It was also reported that the male subject was still on the property, but his whereabouts were unknown.

Firefighters arrived and found a small four-door sedan fully engulfed, with thick black smoke visible from a distance.

Crews quickly confirmed that no one was inside the vehicle and extinguished the fire within .approximately ten minutes.

As firefighters were wrapping up operations, the individual returned to the property, prompting deputies to engage the individual.

Fire personnel were moved to a safe location while law enforcement addressed the situation.

Once the scene was secured, crews returned to gather equipment and clear the scene.

The man was transported to a local hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

The fire remains under investigation by the Harvard Fire Protection District and the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office.
