From the Village of Fox River Grove:
At its October 7, 2025 meeting, the Fox River Grove Village Board approved a reduction in the electricity surcharge tax from 3% to 1%, a change that is expected to save residents and businesses $50,000 per year.
This comes on the heels of the approval of a reduction in the cable television franchise fee from 5% to 1%, saving residents approximately $45,000 per year.
Both reductions are part of the Village’s multi-phased plan to reduce taxes and fees for residents and business owners.
Earlier this year the Village Board approved the reduction of the Village’s telecommunications tax (SMT) from 6% to 1%.
The Village is also planning to eliminate the fees for building permits for non-new construction. This is scheduled for implementation prior to the start of the spring construction season.
