On Sunday, after DeLoris Doederlein’s 100th Birthday Party in West Dundee, I stopped at the Kane County Forest Preserve site where the Carpentersville Dam used to be.
The Fox River is really low.

Not much water was flowing over the Algonquin Dam on October, 5, 2025.
The Fox River is so low that birds stand on the riverbed to fish.
