From Connie Cain, CPA, on article about Kane County Treasurer’s race:

The article, written by a Friend of McHenry County Blog, to which Cain replies:

“Your September 25 article on the Kane County Treasurer race is a masterclass in selective outrage. Labeling Scott Johansen a “septuagenarian” and Connie Cain “60-something” to dismiss their qualifications reeks of ageism, especially when you give a free pass to Chris Lauzen, who’s 75 and no spring chicken himself.

“Why the double standard?

“If age is fair game, why not call out the incumbent’s years while you’re at it?

“Instead of analysis, it’s a cheap shot to prop up a Republican who’s been dodging accountability for years.

“Lauzen’s record is littered with red flags: firing Connie Cain, a CPA who exposed his contempt and tech incompetence, and paying thousands in taxpayer money to silence Carrollyn Brady, a 17-year veteran of his office.

“Lauzen has a pattern of mistreating females.

“Your blog’s silence on Lauzen’s age and these scandals while picking at Democratic challengers’ birth years isn’t just biased, it’s complicit in his playbook of sidelining capable women.

“As a CPA, Army Reserves veteran, and Democrat running for Treasurer, I’m calling this out.

“Kane County deserves coverage that dissects policy.

“Lauzen’s investment record vs. Cain’s fiscal expertise or Johansen’s community tie, not lazy age jabs that distract from the real issues.

“Your readers expect better.

“What’s your excuse for this slant?”
